Czech and Slovakian Teams announced
Former teammates are sending big teams to Munich for European Championships 2002. The team of Czech Republic will consist of 41 names, 16 of them are younger generation of U23 which had softer national standards as the rest for the qualification.

Biggest medal hopes are the world record holder Roman Sebrle in Decathlon and Jan Zelezny in javelin. Good in shape in recent days also 1999 800 m world champion Ludmila Formanova, 400m Hurdler Jiri Muzik and Discus thrower Vera Pospisilova who won during the season two GP Meets in Doha and Bratislava and was second in Zagreb. Questionmark is over the participation of decathlon world champion Tomas Dvorak, who was announced in the team, but is still considering the participation due to achilles injury. The team is biggest since 1993 World Championships.
Slovakia is also going with the biggest team since 1993. Alltogether 19 athletes are going to compete. There is no real medal hope, but the shot putter Milan Haborak who is consistently throwing over 20 metres could be in top 8. Also in the team two fresh silver medal winners from Kingston - hammer thrower Martina Danisova and 800 m runner Lucia Klocova. (Alfons Juck)
