Florian Schwarthoff prepares for Munich
Florian Schwarthoff was born in Dortmund and grew up in Bavaria, where he also started his athletics career. Later he moved to Heidelberg, the city known for its famous University. For one year now, he has been living together with his girl-friend in Berlin, telling us that he feels at home and comfortable everywhere. In summer he wants to come back to Munich as an athlete to feel and enjoy once again the atmosphere and the flair of a major athletics event. As one of seven Eurpean Championships ambassadors he will make sure that Europe is going to come together in Munich.
But before the free programme in the bavarian metropolis, the compulsary one comes first and therefore the 2-meter tall athlete first struggled through the unloved indoor season. "Facing the outdoor season , I wanted to do the complete program, including the European Indoor Championships.Florian Schwarthoff has crossed off the last season, in which he anyhow finished second at the German Championships. "That was a very bad season due to many reasons. More than expected, I have been affected by changing the coach and moving from Heidelberg to Berlin. It is very easy to do better this year, but I want to orientate myself towards the success I had in 2000, ranking 6th at the Oympic Games as Europe's second best. My dream would be to take a medal in Munich.
