German Athletics Federation announces team for Munich
The German Athletic Federation (DLV) announced on Thursday the line-up for the European Athletic Championships in Munich (6-11 August). There is a total of 95 athletes in the national team who have qualified for the European Championships in accordance with the nomination guidelines laid down by the German Athletic Federation.

Dr Clemens Prokop, chairman of the German Athletic Federation stated "We will have a large team at the starting post. We have succeeded in nominating German participants in almost all of the disciplines. If we are realistic about our chances, we will be one of the top three of European nations for both men and women. Of course we will strive to fight for first place in the European Championship which is taking place on our own home ground.The last major test prior to the European Championship takes place on 27 July at the Athletics Meeting in Leverkusen where even athletes who are still currently fighting injury problems will have the chance to demonstrate that they are up to standard. "We intend presenting good athletics to the home crowd with a large and high-performing team, said Rüdiger Nickel, vice president of the German Athletics Association for competitive sport.
