European Athletics Championships in Munich very much in demand
There is great interest in the European Athletics Championships that will take place this year from 6th to 11th August in Munich's Olympic Stadium: More than 50,000 tickets had already been sold by the end of January. The announcement was made by Wilfrid Spronk, Executive Vice-President of the Organisational Committee and Head of the Olympic Park: "We are on the right track. Sales have been very gratifying so far. Now we are harvesting the first fruits of our extensive promotional activities to date."
As planned, the advertising campaign will continue all over Europe during the weeks to come. Hence the 2002 European Championships will be presented in forthcoming track and field events, such as the German Championships in Sindelfingen and the European Indoor Championships in Vienna, as well as at other major meets, sporting events and marathons. Even the sporting ambassadors of the European title matches will be deployed at these events and other media events. Contacts with regional associations, clubs, sports agencies, tourism and other institutions are in full swing prior to Easter, when billboard campaigns and radio spots will start advertising the world's largest track and field event of the year.
