Holm has been particularly successful indoors in recent years, winning the World Indoor Championships in Lisbon in 2001 and placing second earlier this year at the European Indoor Championships.
His top finish in major outdoor competitions was his fourth place at the Sydney Olympics.
Going into the final two weeks before the European Championships, Holm leads all European jumpers with a season best of 2.33, which he has jumped in two meetings this year.
With a height of 1.81m, Holm is one of the shortest high jumpers currently active on the international circuit.
