The world record of 12.91 he currently holds was established in his 1993 World Championship win in Stuttgart. He also is the world-record holder indoors for the 60m hurdles at 7.30, set in 1994.
Jackson won the World Championships in 1993 and 1999, and also took silver in 1997 and bronze in 1987. He was also victorious at the World Indoor championships in 1999, and has three European indoor crowns.
He has been less fortunate in Olympic competition, with his only medal being a bronze won in 1988.
With a win in Munich, Jackson would be the first athlete ever to win four European Championship titles in a single track event.
