Bergqvist won the bronze medal in the Edmonton Championships after tying for the same medal at the Sydney Olympics one year earlier.
Indoors, she has been even more successful, winning the Europeans in 2000 and the worlds in 2001, both titles coming with 2.00 jumps. During this past winter, she was the co-silver medallist in Vienna at the European Indoor Championships.
In early July, she jumped 2.04 in Lausanne, which was the season-leading mark at that time. Standing only 1.75m, Bergqvist has one of the greatest "jump-over-height differentials among active jumpers with 29cm.
She has been Swedish champion for the past five years, and also won the NCAA championships twice while a student at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
Take us through your experiences recently in Lausanne, when you jumped two personal bests and ended the evening with 2.04, the best mark by anyone this season…
